Do visitors from countries other than Indonesia who visit the Indonesian Islands near Singapore require visas?

USA and China passport holders wish to visit the islands of Batam & Bintan for a few days holiday during Chinese Spring Festival (Feb. '08) travelling from S'pore. Are Indonesian visitor's visas required? Are other documents required other than a valid passport?

  1. Visa's are required every where now....
  2. Countries not within the ASEAN region are required to apply for visas before entering that country. :)
  3. REVISED VISA RULING With effect from 01 February 2004, the Government of Indonesia will impose "Visa on arrival" for the following countries. Countries/Nationals are: USA, Australia, South Africa, Argentina, Brazil, Denmark, United Arab Emirates, Finland, Hungary, Britain, Japan, Germany, South Korea, Canada, Norway, France, Poland, Switzerland, New Zealand, Taiwan, Oman, Italy, Austria, Belgium, China, Egypt, India, Ireland, Kuwait, Luxemburg, Maldives, Portugal, Qatar, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Sweden, Hong Kong (BNO), Iran, Netherlands, Bahrain, Bulgaria, Cambodia, Cyprus, Estonia, Greece, Iceland, Laos, Liechtenstein, Malta, Mexico, Monaco and Suriname. Visa fees are USD 10 up to 7 days stay and USD 25 for 8~30 days stay payable on arrival. Currently there are 11 countries that are exempted from visa - Singapore, Chile, Brunei, Malaysia, Morocco, Hong Kong SAR (Special Administrative Region), Macau SAR, Philippines, Thailand, Peru and Vietnam. Countries not listed above will have to apply for visa prior to travel. "I think APEC business card travellers/holders are not required to get a visa on arrival"
